"I first heard about God Uses Ink from a friend who encouraged me to enter. I took a scene from the very first manuscript I'd ever written, and submitted it to the contest. I was stunned to learn that I had won – stunned. First place won me free registration to Write! Canada, the first writing conference I'd ever been to, where I learned that there are many other people out there like me – trying to put words to the stories and thoughts stuck in my own head. In the first class I went to, I met Marcy Kennedy who had won third place. We connected at Write! Canada and became instant critique partners, friends, and now co-writers. Our first co-written articles were birthed and sold to editors at Write! Canada – and the networking we did there has brought us into full-time freelance writing – and our almost finished manuscript. We owe much to The Word Guild, Write! Canada, and the God Uses Ink contest that began it all."
